My name is Martin Watkins, and I am a candidate for Legislative District 24 in the Arizona House of Representatives for the 2020 election.

I come from a Midwestern blue-collar family. My dad is a truck driver and a proud Teamster. My brothers and I grew up with the advantage of a stay at home mom. Both of my parents instilled the Watkins core values, which are family, community involvement, hard work for achievement, and serving others. My dad Rob and brother Kenny are both proud veterans of the United States Navy, and my brother Matt is currently serving in the National Guard. With my passion for health care, it was natural for me to pursue a career as a paramedic. I graduated from the Paramedicine program at Lenoir Community College in Kinston, North Carolina, and I am honored to wear the uniform here in Phoenix, Arizona.

I view this election and the position of a State Representative as a further extension of my career in public service. Since 2017, it has been my honor to lead the Phoenix Intergenerational Model United Nations as Conference Director.  In this role, I have worked to inspire a passion and appreciation in others towards the implementation of universal human rights, sustainable development, and cooperation. As an Arizona transplant, I love Phoenix, and it is now my home. I appreciate the opportunities our city and state offers for renewal and growth. I am proud to be a part of our community, and I would welcome the chance to serve as our district's State Representative.

As a paramedic, I have committed myself to serve those in need within our community, and as our Representative, I will maintain that oath.
